We have experience (and certified) in downloading several EDR’s, and now offer this service to you.

Event Data Recorder (EDR) Downloads

We have downloaded numerous “black boxes” from crash vehicles, including surrounding police departments when assisting them with investigations. Although “black box” is an unofficial term, the EDR (or ACM – Airbag Control Module) can contain vital information to your case. EDR data is essentially irrefutable in most cases and has become a required element for most crash investigators today.

Crash Data Report (CDR)

The CDR is the “report” we get after downloading it from a crashed vehicle:

One of the most important pieces of the report is the Pre-Crash Data that’s including, giving us pre-impact Speed, Braking, Acceleration, etc.

With this specific data (timed intervals of speed) we can offer simple illustrations with Google Maps (or scale drawings from the scene) so jurors can better understand the situation. Below is from an actual crash we did that shows (in Red) the distance the vehicle actually traveled versus how far (in Blue) it would have traveled if traveling the posted speed limit. If traveling the speed limit, the driver literally couldn’t have made it to the impact area (end of red line) avoiding the crash altogether. Even if the driver locked up the brakes at the end of the blue line (at 257 feet), it would have only added another 58 feet approximately, well short of the 619 feet traveled at the higher speed:

These are just a couple of unique options available with CDR. We can download most vehicles on the road today. Call us to evaluate your case!
